Why LGBTQ+ Affirming Christianity Is NOT An Oxymoron
What does it mean to be affirming? What actually are the scriptures used to harm others? I have questions-does that make me a bad Christian? How does my faith fit into all of this?
Former pastor-now author and speaker- Colby will share his story of being fired from his church, researching the passages in the Bible that have been used to "clobber" people in the LGBTQ+ community, and how the life and teachings of Jesus lead us to be affirming, inclusive, and welcoming of all God's people. The event is free and open to everyone. Come as you are, questions and all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wait, where is Lang Auditorium and how do I get there?
The Auditorium is located in Lang Hall (shocker!). Lang Hall is located on the northeast side of campus, close to College Street and 23rd street.
There are 3 main doors to Lang Hall: one on the south side of the building, by Maucker Union; one on the East side, that faces ThreeHouse and College Street; and one on the North Side, that faces the bookstore.
The Auditorium is right in the middle of the building, on the second floor. We’ll have people and signs at each door to point you in the right direction once you’re inside-look for volunteers in bright colored shirts!
For those who need it: There is a ramp at south door, and the north door opens at ground level, with elevator access to get to the second floor and the auditorium. The east door is not handicap accessible.
Be sure to check out the parking map for places to park! The parking map is available at https://www.threehouse.org/colby-martin-event

How come public safety is here?
Big event! Lots of people! This is a normal thing that happens. Public Safety is available to help as needed, and maintain the integrity and safety of the space and conversation we hope to have.

I have questions for Colby. Will I get to ask them?
There’s a form! Submit the form as many times as you’d like, with as many questions as you have. A member of our team will ask the questions at the end. This will help make sure we don’t go over time or get too long winded with stories and asking the important stuff! We can’t guarantee they’ll all be asked, but we’ll do our best.
The form is available at the link below. Look for the QR codes that will be posted at the event as well!
